This is Part 2 of the Dr. Phil Episode where Dr. Phil, along with Best-Selling Author Hill Harper, Reverend Al Sharpton (VIA Satellite), Conservative radio talk show host Michael Graham and Comedians Cheryl Underwood and Paul Mooney have a very thought-provoking debate on the use of the infamous “N-Word”. I never say the …
I never say the word…but I also feel that blacks [i'm black myself] shouldn’t make such a controversy out of everything–UNLESS they are just truly being extremely racist or something…I mean, if a person is just using it, there shouldn’t be as much mess started as there usually is. I mean , come on, blacks joke about every race and call them every name under the book…but as soon as it’s turned around on them [in a jokingly matter] it’s like OMG FIRED!lol…ugh…I just don’t get it

i will never say …
i will never say the n-word (I’m white) because, growing up in the South it has a very negative meaning to me. I’ve heard my mother use it, and I’ve heard people in my family and in school use it in a racist way to refer to black people and It’s derogatory IMO.
However, I do believe what the comedienne lady in the video is saying about how the black community can sometimes commandeer the term and it’s considered “okay.” If they want to use it, that’s okay with me but I definitely never would.

This word is a part …
This word is a part of history and honestly people aren’t going to stop saying that word. It’s wrong. Period. It has a horrible history. Like the man said, blacks are good at making a negativing into a positive, but in this case this word has so much substance no matter how much you try to water it down because of it’s foundation and upbringing. No one should be saying it.

I don’t understand …
I don’t understand this idea of “right” or that “you can’t say”. This is a social issue. The individual whether black, white, asian, etc is in charge of their mouth and can say whatever they want. That individual only needs to decide and understand that they run the risk of isolating themselves and hurting others, when they use certain words. But again that is up to the individual, which is the ultimate decider, and should have the freedom, always, to decide and voice their opinion.

They don’t hate the …
They don’t hate the N-word because it’s offensive cos for example most of us use the F-word everyday and it’s offensive so when it comes to the N-word it’s not about being offensive anymore but about the slavery implications it holds.
April 2nd, 2009 at 10:35 pm
The N-word is …
The N-word is disapproved ‘cos it holds implications of slavery and degradation. That’s why people call for its end.

Just watching this …
Just watching this debate but I do think that you’re completly foolish and racists when you clearly identify the young black guy as the “light skinned”……WTF what planet are you from. Sheryl Underwood is very intelligent and well spoken perhaps if you listened instead of picking her physical apperance apart you might just get it. You manage to clearly identify the “black” guest but you made special attention to the “light skinned black”……..somebodys got some serious ISSUES
