Misconceptions About Islam - By Dr. Zakir Naik.
This is a lecture by Dr. Zakir Naik held in P.U.B. Auditorium, Singapore, 17 October, 1998. In this video he answers some of the most common misconceptions non-Muslims have about Islam.

    Oh, please…the …
Oh, please…the Quran didn’t fall out of the sky. Even if you do believe in “God”, you must realise that it was physically written by men. Whether or not they were “divinely inspired” is another matter, but the fact remains the laws concerning the hijab WERE written by men.

    The hijabs go way …
The hijabs go way back to the bible days look at 1 Cor 11 1 15 it talks bout the head covering for the womens

reply to ur post 3 …
reply to ur post 3 weeks ago-
the hijab wasnt created by men, it was written in the quran for women to cover specific body parts, the words of the quran are gods, it was not made by men.

  6. garethac81

    Porn stars are ” …
stars are “proud” of their profession, just like Muslim women are “proud” to wear the hijab. Both are subjudgated, and both lack the education and social awareness to realise they are conforming to male oppression. Claiming “pride” and “empowerment” is just the easiest way for women to fool themselves that their choice has not been influenced by patriarchal oppression.

    Lol, are u a muslim …
Lol, are u a muslim girls? Its funny because what you said are too contradict with what my muslim friends (girl) said.
They said that they are happy to wear hijab and cover the body. Its incovenient when boys staring at them if they showed their body.
Furthermore, its an honor for them because the got to show their respects to their love one (husband) by only permitting them to see it.

    What feminity and …
What feminity and what individuality? You want to be feminine and individual, be so in front of your husbands. Why do you want to show your “feminity”-if that is how you show it-by hardly wearing any clothes, to other men? The only logical reason to why men and women would want to highlight their gender aspects is ONLY to attract.

  9. Muslimtothecore

    While this is true …
While this is true that in Quran men are told to lower their gaze if they look at a woman, at the same time women are told to cover their bodies. You tell me is it practically possible for every man on this earth to be so noble that they lower their gaze when they see a woman?

  10. garethac81

    The hijab was …
The hijab was created by men who believed women were to blame for “sexually tempting” them, just by virtue of the fact that they looked like women (of course, this is not true - men are responsible for controlling their sexual urges, not the women who “tempt” them). The hijab persecutes women for being women, robbing them of their femininity and individuality. That is NOT “protection of modesty”. That is subjudgation.

  11. Muslimtothecore

    I dont think you …
I dont think you are “listening” to what Dr Zakir is saying. Protection of modesty not subjudgation.

  12. garethac81

What do you mean, ” …
What do you mean, “it’s not the religion”? Dr. Zakir is quoting these sexist laws directly from the Qur’an! The only reason so many women continue to accept the subjudgation of the hijab is because they fear opposing a law that is HOLY. And by the way, NO RELIGION CAN EXIST OUTSIDE OF CULTURE OR TRADITION. So, your post makes no sense at all.

  13. ProudMuslimWoman

    its not the …
its not the religion as u can obviously see, its the traditions and the cultures that these so called muslims wont let go of

    Hello. You can´t be …
Hello. You can´t be serious about what you said of Cuba. Cuba is a miserable place to live because it has a foolish dictator that doesn´t allow people to do normal business or exchange money as they want. Look at Puerto Rico, which was in a worse condition than Cuba 50 years ago, and tell me who is suffering from US influence.

  15. 12opic

    Thank you, this …
Thank you, this sounds very reasonably. We shouldn´t try to assimilate the sexes when they are so wonderfully different… But then, how come that these days the position of most women in Muslim countries is so miserable?

  16. 12opic

    Sorry for the delay …
Sorry for the delay, I got lots of work with the beginning of school. Yes but I don´t understand how do you know what in paradise is for women and what for men. How do I know it is not all for men if the chapter doesn´t quote “woman” once?

  17. DevilishhhhGuy

    There is no such …
    There is no such quotation.
refrain inaccuracies to propogate your hateful lies.

  18. DevilishhhhGuy

    How did you reach …
How did you reach your consensus and equate Islam as the cause.

Muslim countries since European Imperialism over 10 years follow secular pro Western political models. How do you blame Islam.

    Is poverty not the cause.
Why do most cuban women work as prostitutes?..because America deprived this proud nation and created a culture of drugs and poverty.

    A ‘degree’ above …
A ‘degree’ above women simply refers to men’s responsibilities towards women. It doesn’t mean men are above women. Physically men and women aren’t equal and each one has their own special qualities which makes them special. Eg. women are better at remembering things while men’s special qualities are their strength. To protect a person, strength is required. So a man’s duty is to protect women not exploit them.

  20. msalleh89

    Look intially you …
Look intially you posed a qn quoting this fact “the husbands get virgins beautiful as corals” trying to indicate women gets nothing in paradise so i’m showing you that women too have equal treatment in Paradise.

  21. cornegg

    I absolutely agree …
I absolutely agree with that (and it is something the West has long forgotten and Christianity keeps reminding it), but when I look at the real condition of women, they are widely mistreated by western standards (beaten, have limited access to private property and education, cursed if they refuse to be with their husbands in any night etc.)

  22. cornegg

    Alright, I accept …
Alright, I accept that 1400 years ago, the situation of women could have been much worse, so Islam raised the status of women, but now, “Of course, men are a degree above them in status” (2:228), isn´t the status of women lower in Muslim countries than in the rest of the world?

  23. cornegg

    In the same chapter …
In the same chapter, I see “22. And (there will be) pure maidens, most beautiful of eye,
    23. Like pearls kept hidden (in their shells).” and “36. And We have made them virgins” - why would it be that the immortal boys are for women? And how does it imply “everything their heart desires” as you say?

  24. lazy1337

    well they should. …
well they should. as the doctor said himself, a man is prohibited from even lustful THOUGHTS! i think if you don’t even think of a women as a sexual object, that forces you to look at her as a person, which is respectable in my opinion.

  25. msalleh89

    Islam is the …
Islam is the religion that raised the status of women and provide status for women as you can hear from this video.
