An Indian doctor accused of tricking and sometimes forcing hundreds of India’s poorest people to give up their kidneys, has been arrested in Nepal.
The case has highlighted the dark underside of India’s growing popularity as a destination for medical tourists.
But this scandal has shocked the country, sparking debates about medical ethics and organ transplant laws.

Such a shortage they do this - the average $1,200 for India’s population that donate. The doctor was selling these at $30,000 a transplant per the article in the paper. It’s illegal to sell organs in the U.S. but blood, eggs, and sperm can be sold. 1 deceased donor can have an effect on 50-100 lives with organs and tissue donation….

I just got a kidney transplant 3 months ago. My donor was my boyfriend. I would never want to receive a kidney from someone in a situation like this. They kill people for their hair in India also. So that they can sell it.
