Did Jesus Rise From The Dead? (Debate)
February 19th, 2009 by admin
This is a debate that Lee Strobel hosted between Tim Callahan and Dr. Gary Habermas on the Resurrection. Tim gets torn to pieces, just like Dionysus, his “evidence,” which doesn’t even have evidence of a resurrection story before Christianity!
Please visit Lee Strobel’s website for moer FREE videos that will change the hardest skeptic’s mind.

horus was before …
horus was before jesus and jesus nearly completely mirrors horus, including a resurrection. too bad so sad for you!!
however, this in and of itself does not refute the claims of christians. the complete lack of evidence for your position refutes it. as history goes, jesus is really a nothing until several decades after his supposed death. again- evidence would be nice if you disagree.

ok- then please …
ok- then please provide EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE for the following: virgin birth, walking on water, spontaneous healings, raising the dead, taking a few loaves and fishes and turning it into an all you can eat buffet, turning water into wine (my favorite) and zombies coming out of their graves and walking around.
doesn’t sound like history at all. sounds like myth. again, unless of course you have EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE we can examine.

Horus was indeed …
Horus was indeed pre-christian, and no, there’s no resurrection.
Besdies there being numerous “Horuses” according to the Egyptian myhtology(each contradicting the other), there is no resurrection. Osiris is being revived and becomes the God of the dead. No resurrection here.
So sorry
You got so happy too…

Ok…I have …
Ok…I have encountered several arguments against the existance and divinity of Jesus on Youtibe, but this one topples them all.
Dear God… You were actually doing fine until now.
For shame.

“You’d think” is an …
“You’d think” is an argument from silence.
Jesus certainly become a God a lot before the second century.
And your merely imposing your own set of standards by saying that they MUST have ben recorded. Really? Good to know you have background info. on the time period…who ould you expect to record them? Ignorant/illiterate Palestinian jews?
Not that *is* strange…

most historians …
most historians think that an intinerant apocolyptic preacher was probably the basis of the bible myth character.
btw: do we have a legal document of his birth and death? how about some sort of authenticated historical document verifying something he might have done in his life? what did he look like? what were his favorite foods? what did he enjoy talking about? what were his politics? who were his biggest influences?
since we have none of the above, jesus is just hearsay. at best.

horus was prec hristian and there was a resurrection. yes yes yes!!! checkmate!!

no one else in …
no one else in history is being proclaimed as god. extraordinary claims REQUIRE extraordinary evidence. since jesus became a god concept in the 2nd century and so many paranormal claims were said to have been done by his own hands, you’d think that would be important enough to be documented by a contemporary.
writing about his “wonders” several decades after the fact makes one WONDER. paul had no clue about his supposed ministry. paul knew nothing of his life. strange! really strange!!

He didn’t say …
He didn’t say Osiris or Bacchus are prechristian. He said there are no resurrections in those stories. Dyonisus’ “resurrection” comes after the birth of Christianity.

Among those …
Among those scholars are also hardened skeptics about the Jesus story. Are they liars too?
February 19th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Nonsense. …
Nonsense. Contemporaneous accounts aren’t a necessary tool in affirming the existance of an ancient historical figure. By your standards not a single person really existed back in ancient history, which is silly.
Only when the Bible is in question do ppl raise these nonsensical objections.

correct. it’s on …
correct. it’s on christians to prove the validity of their claims. to date: no empirical evidence has been found to substatiate any bible story and there is absolutely no contemporaneous evidence that jesus even existed.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
even if the stories …
even if the stories predate christianity which this man cannot prove. it still speaks nothing to the truth or falsehood of Christ.

Hahah.. this is the most highly edited piece of crap ever. Find someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Lee Strobel hosting this? What a hug ploy!

“Virtually all …
“Virtually all scholars agree?”
If one has to lie in the cause of one’s position, this should tell something about the merit of their position.

habermas …
habermas embarrasses himself–Osiris most absolutely predates Jesus’s resurrection myth by thousands of years; the book of the dead makes that crystal clear. but really, that’s beside the point–however unoriginal the myth of someone’s resurrection is, it has nothing to do with the truth value of the claim. there is no evidence whatever that anyone has ever actually died and been brought back to life.

The first day of …
The first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Luke 24

One of the ancient …
One of the ancient prophecies was “And he (Jesus Messiah) made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.” Isaiah 53:9
So he would be assigned a grave with criminals (which he was) but he would be buried with the rich) which he was!
“…there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. He went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.” Matthew 27:57 Mark 15:43

God is holy and …
God is holy and there is nobody good - that’s why people reject the God of the Bible - the Bible clearly states all men have fallen short of the glory of God, all men have sinned and the wages of sin is death (spiritual). But - that’s a good word after that news - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Romans 3:23 Hewbrews 9:10 John 3:16 John 1:1-4 John 1:14 Isaiah 64:6
