    of course not… …
of course not… but all the earliest Christians believed exactly the same thing. The word Catholic didn’t show up until after it became the official religion of the roman empire. At that time, there was only one church and it was thought that one must be in that church to be saved. Again, not true any more.

    But “christians” …
But “christians” believers in “christ” existed since & soon after the time of “jesus” that were not catholic, so what your saying is that the catholic chruch considered them all not saved?

  3. cheesemonkey1990

    Up until the schism …
Up until the schism of the eastern orthodox church, there was one church. The reasoning behind that was that Jesus put Church in the singular form. It was seen that anyone outside the C. Church was not saved. What they overlooked was that the other denominations held was basically the same as us with a few differences.

    or so originaly the …
or so originaly the catholic church held the stance that if you were not catholic you couldn’t be saved?

so originaly “jesus’s church” said you hada be catholic to be saved and now you dont have to be?

  5. cheesemonkey1990

    yes: the only works …
yes: the only works unnessecary are the works of the OT laws seen in leviticus, deuteronomy and numbers.

  6. cheesemonkey1990

    The whole not saved …
The whole not saved b/c you aren’t catholic is old school stuff. in vatican II we cleared all that up and said that anyone could be saved. The first christians were the followers of Jesus. The ones who were his closest deciples were the apostles (one who is sent). All catholics are christian, but not all christians are catholic. We all believe in Jesus and his message

  7. Irlandski

    no all the people …
no all the people that accepted “christ” while he was alive/ after crucified {dont know were the seperation is there, will hava look into that lol} were the first christians

    if you were to look at it from your point of view all protesants wud still actually be catholic, even tough officialy the catholic church does not accept anyone oustide its church as being in the true church of christ {ie not saved}

    YES!! 1Jn 5:15-16
    YES!! 1Jn 5:15-16

  9. cheesemonkey1990

    why is Catholicism …
why is Catholicism separated from Christianity. We were the original Christians

    Wow, even the title …
Wow, even the title is bias. “Catholicism vs. Christianity”? lol….

Anyways, the sacraments are mentioned in the Bible. Saying that faith alone is all that’s required is just taking a verse without looking at the Bible as a whole. Faith in Christ implies that you receive the sacraments.

    Faith Produces the …
Faith Produces the person to do good.
Look at what Jesus did, he pray, fasted, instructed.
He healed, Fed the sick, showed loved.
I agree with the Catholic position

    ssj, you have no …
ssj, you have no idea what you’re saying. You are wrong. We do not worship idols. We worship God and God alone! Those things you see are merely images of Saints who have been perfected by God and from whom you can learn a lot if you just take the time to learn about the lives of the Saints. Do you know anything about any Saint at all?

  13. 1Hope4All

    superstud, if …
superstud, if that’s the case, then we’re all going to hell.

If we believe in Jesus we shall have eternal life. But it’s not that simple and it just doesn’t end there. Read your bible to find out just what needs to be done in order for us to have eternal life. It’s just not that simple for those who have been given the gift of faith. If you have been given much, much is expected of you.

    *buzz* WRONG! There …
*buzz* WRONG! There is such a thing as deadly sin and sin that does not lead to death. If you read the bible you would know that. There is such a thing as “greater sin.” We call those sins “mortal sins.” Then there is “venial sins” which does not separate us completely from God. Read the bible and you will know that.

    “not by works” !!!! …
“not by works” !!!! “WORKS OF THE LAW!!!!!!!”

It IS by works AND faith that we are saved. But if not for the Grace of God we would not have those works! Read Eph 2:10. Many protestants read Eph 2:8-9 but forget about or omit verse 10. God prepared those works for us to walk in them. James 2 clearly states we are saved by faith AND works. We Catholics know we are saved by GRACE alone!! But it is because of that grace that we can have faith and works.

For I was naked and …
For I was naked and you clothed me, hungry and you fed me, in prison and you visited me, sick and you came to me….oh by the way - JESUS CHRIST said that!

  17. mmmail1969

    Funny, I see alot …
Funny, I see alot of CHRISTIAN images, painting etc in the Vatican!

    EXACTLY because …
EXACTLY because when it all comes down to it on judgment day, those who have sinned which is everyone in this world no matter how good you think you are, is going to be guilty of something and the wage of sin is death. But Jesus says whosoever (which means anyone and everyone who does) believe in me shall have ever lasting life. That goes for everyone. Read the bible.

    God is just. …
God is just. stealing somebodys chocolate bar is just as bad as killing 6 million people. ok.

    ThruChristAlone I’m …
ThruChristAlone I’m glad to see someone is actually reading the bible and quoting it on here. I’d like to thank you for that. Great to see you choosing God’s word over man’s tradition.

    If he committed …
If he committed suicide he is not with God. Do you know what repentance means? Yeah it’s kind of hard to see hitler repenting and putting his full faith in Jesus so he may be saved but if he had done so even after killing 6 million people he would be saved because the holy spirit would be in him at that point. Remember your sins are just as bad as his sins in Gods eyes.

  22. superstudjock

    RCC are worshipers …
RCC are worshipers of pagan idols. Just take one quick look at the Vatican and you are bound to find at least one pagan symbol.

  23. Sledge070685

yes you can. If you …
yes you can. If you TRULY repent your actions no matter what it is (except suicide) then God will forgive them. Of course yes 6 million people is alotta people to kill and I probably won’t forgive the guy but ………………

  24. tonygmilan7

    u cant be forgiven …
u cant be forgiven if u sin against the spirit and kill 6 million people. hitler is not in heaven.

  25. Sledge070685

    Hitler could of …
Hitler could of repented except for the fact that suicide is man’s biggest sin. You can’t be forgiven for suicide.
